EUREF- Talent-Campus Berlin

Since the winter semester of 2012, the Technical University Berlin has been offering Master’s programs in the fields of environment, climate, energy and mobility on the EUREF-Campus.

TU-Campus EUREF gGmbH was founded in 2008 as an interdisciplinary, networked European teaching, research and consulting institution to develop the courses and has been recognized as an affiliated institute of Technische Universität Berlin since 2011. The institute supports the social transformation process from fossil energy concepts to concepts based on renewable energy.

On the EUREF-Campus in Berlin Schöneberg, the institute offers training and further education events for various target groups, research and consulting services and, above all, continuing education master’s degree programs directly related to the topics of the energy transition.

Master’s programs

The internationally recognized Master’s programs have a modular and interdisciplinary structure and train future specialists and managers. They are aimed at students and young professionals with a first academic degree (Bachelor, Magister, Diplom) in the fields of energy, construction, architecture, transportation, engineering, economics and law. At least one year of professional experience following this degree is also a prerequisite.

The English-language, continuing education Master’s programs “Energy Management”, “Building Sustainability – Management Methods for Energy Efficiency”, “European and International Energy Law” and “Sustainable Mobility Management” are currently offered.

MBA Building Sustainability

Management Methods for Energy Efficiency
is a comprehensive, interdisciplinary course of study for anyone planning a career in the planning and management of real estate projects – with a focus on implementing sustainability and recognizing the relevance of different urban contexts.

The concept of the German “Energiewende” has attracted international attention. It encompasses a wide range of measures aimed at making Europe’s largest economy free of fossil fuels and nuclear energy. To achieve this, all areas of energy production and consumption must undergo a transformation process. Alongside mobility and industry, buildings are therefore one of the key factors for a successful energy transition.

The degree program teaches skills, methods and concepts for considering and understanding different approaches and aligning them with sustainable solutions. Such skills are essential for buildings, construction sites and real estate projects that take into account energy efficiency and other sustainability criteria as a balance to economic, social, ecological and cultural aspects in responsibility for future generations.

MBA Energy Management

The energy market is one of the most fast-moving, critical and profitable industries today and is of vital importance to the global economy, the environment and our society as a whole. Climate and economic changes, public opinion, technological advances and regulation present unpredictable challenges and opportunities. This situation requires new solutions from highly qualified experts with a comprehensive overview, an international focus and the will to make a real difference.

MBA Sustainable Mobility Management

Sustainable Mobility Management is an MBA program that is perfect for traffic engineers, traffic and mobility experts, planners, architects and sustainability project managers who want to acquire in-depth specialist knowledge in the field of sustainable mobility management. Authorities, companies and other transportation and mobility providers need to rethink their current strategies. Every urban area faces its own specific challenges: Congestion, emissions, safety, accessibility and economic impact are just some of the factors that make up the mobility situation of residents. This creates an increased need for broadly trained, qualified managers who are able to tackle these problems with new technologies and innovative business models. The Master’s degree course in Sustainable Mobility Management closes an educational gap in the mobility sector. It prepares students for management positions and enables them to develop forward-looking and sustainable mobility solutions.

Mobility2Grid research campus

Successful transfer from the real world laboratory on the EUREF-Campus

The aim of the research campus is to transform mobility and the transport system, taking the energy system into account. What is analyzed and tested in the real-world laboratory on the EUREF-Campus has the potential to be transferred to larger urban and municipal areas.

In the period 2022-2027, the network of 35 scientific and business partners will receive a total of EUR 10 million in funding from the BMBF. Specifically, this second funding phase will examine how business models need to adapt in order to respond to changes in the markets, how network capacities are used and how vehicle fleets can be controlled in a way that benefits the grid.

How can the interests of citizens be taken into account? Mobility2Grid makes a decisive contribution to the transformation of urban energy and transportation systems.

Efficient and networked systems for the climate-neutral city

The results of the past eight years are to be transferred into practical application contexts by 2027. To this end, a methodology is being developed for the transfer of knowledge from science to real economic areas that acknowledges the individual circumstances of the different transfer areas, identifies the conditions for transferability and at the same time ensures that the findings of the Mobility2Grid research campus can be successfully implemented.

The package of methods for the solutions includes the design and planning of sustainable, cross-sector operational management strategies with innovative business models, consulting for the digitalization of an area or the development of holistic transport and mobility concepts considering future-oriented technologies such as autonomous driving or plug & charge. In the context of site development, the results will be continuously presented on a modern web application. In this way, the tested and well-evaluated research results will also be disseminated beyond the research project and made accessible to society.
